Race 1: ROCK MANOR(12)
Race 2: VIRTUOSA(13)
Race 4: LAKE KINNERET(2)
Race 6: DANZA(9)

The Magic Tips Page by JayEmEe - Winning Form

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 4: LAKE KINNERET(2)
Jockey: G Lerena   - Trainer: St John D Gray

LAKE KINNERET gave a solid account of himself in that comeback run last time out, when finishing just behind a highly rated sort. He should strip a lot fitter today and on his most recent form, he looks very hard to oppose with Lerena reclaiming the ride.

LAKE KINNERET(2)
Race 5: ELEGANCIA(6)
Jockey: C Maujean   - Trainer: D Sham

ELEGANCIA has made solid improvement since having the blinkers removed in her last three starts. She has had to overcome a few tricky draws in recent times and with this being back down the straight over her preferred trip, she looks to be the right one here with Maujean retaining the ride.

ELEGANCIA(6)

TOP BET
Race 7: MADEMOISELLE(9)
Jockey: L Hewitson  - Trainer: Janse van Vuuren

MADEMOISELLE has been in solid form of late and she is clearly in a good space at this stage of the season. On her latest effort, she appears to have a few contenders held and with Hewitson retaining the ride, she looks the one they all have to beat.

MADEMOISELLE(9)
Race 8: LIFE IS GOOD(8)
Jockey: R Simons - Trainer: B Botes

LIFE IS GOOD has certainly benefitted from the blinkers being fitted in recent times, as he has dropp- ed to a more competitive rating. He has plenty of speed and should love the drop back to the 1000m, where he has won before. On that run three starts back, he looks a big runner here.

 LIFE IS GOOD(8)

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 6: VALBONNE(5)
Jockey: R Simons  - Trainer :R Magner

VALBONNE has impressed in his last two starts in the province. The blinkers seem to have helped and he steps up to his preferred trip today. He has faced some stiff opposition in his time & if reproducing that penultimate start, he should just about win this.

VALBONNE(5)

Neil Morrice: UK Racing Tips - Thursday 9 May 2019

Neil Morrice: UK Racing Tips - Thursday 18 April 2019

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Thursday's racing at Chester, Chelmsford, Huntingdon, Wincanton and Worcester.

Chester Best Bets

Race 4: MORANDO (3)
Trainer: Andrew Balding
Jockey: Silvestre de Sousa

With his liking of this tight course and proven ability to handle cut in the ground, MORANDO can show that at the age of six he is still getting better. He put in a career best to win the Group 3 St Simon Stakes at Newbury on his final start of 2018 and his trainer excels with such individuals. The horse that could block his path is Kew Gardens but at the respective prices it adds up to go with Morando.

Race 5: IT'S BEEN NOTED (4)
Trainer: Tom Dascombe
Jockey: Richard Kingscote

With five runners in this, locally-based Dascombe probably has the answer. The fact that IT'S BEEN NOTED has previous experience to bring to the table makes him of considerable interest and the Kingscote booking suggests he's the stable's number one. He showed a certain amount of ability on that Ripon debut, will come on for it and has a decent draw from which to attack.

Race 7: CROWNTHORPE (6)
Trainer: Richard Fahey
Jockey: S Davis

I'm taking a punt that the in-form CROWNTHORPE can demonstrate that he stays a mile and a quarter. He greatly impressed with the way he finished off his race at Beverley on Monday and if he can do that on a stiff track over a mile he must have a solid chance of staying an extra two furlongs on this easy course.

Chelmsford Best Bet

Race 2: MASHAM STAR (5)
Trainer: Mark Johnston
Jockey: P J McDonald

The industrious MASHAM STAR has shown a liking for track and trip and may be the answer as he returns to Polytrack. Few horses can stand racing like the 5yo who having run Greenside to a length and threequarters at Windsor on Monday now makes a quick reappearance.

Huntingdon Best Bet

Race 7: PINK SHEETS (11)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Conor O'Farrell

Returning from a three month break, PINK SHEETS can uphold the promise of his second career start at Ayr. Pipesmoker and Shantou Vow are interesting debutants from Lambourn but Pink Sheets has worked well on the shavings gallop at West Ilsley and gets the vote.

Wincanton Best Bet

Race 4 No2 CASA TALL
Trainer: Tom George
Jockey: Jonathan Burke

While not having fulfilled the potential he showed in his early career in France, CASA TALL has been rubbing shoulders with decent tackle for quite a while and can now take advantage of a notable class drop. With only four outings last season he has scope for improvement and it was a hugely competitive handicap in which he finished fourth at Haydock last time. Cut in the ground won't bother him.

Worcester Best Bets

Race 4: MERE ANARCHY (11)
Trainer: Robert Stephens
Jockey: Tom O'Brien

Front running MERE ANARCHY failed to justify some late support at Chepstow last month but put in another good run to finish third. He now takes a sizeable step up in distance and can gain a deserved an overdue success.

Super Rugby Saturday Round 13 Preview

Super Rugby - players engage in a scrum

Shaun Goosen takes a look at the Super Rugby Saturday Round 13 match ups. The Sharks continue their tour and will encounter the Chiefs, the Jaguares travel to New Zealand to face the Highlanders, while the Lions host the Waratahs. Check out our preview below:

Highlanders v Jaguares
07h15
Forsyth Barr Stadium

To Win
Highlanders 2/9
Draw 28/1
Jaguares 33/10

Handicap
Highlanders (-10.5) 9/10
Jaguares (+10.5) 9/10

The Highlanders face a tricky test when they host a Jaguares side on the up in Dunedin on
the weekend.

The Jaguares have won all four of their last Super Rugby games on the trot. Gonzalo
Quesada’s men have steadily improved this campaign, putting on a number of good
showings - including last week’s 30-25 home win over the Stormers - to be within a single
point of the SA conference table-toppers the Bulls.

They will pose a real threat to the Landers on Saturday, a team that followed up their
fantastic 52-0 win over the Sunwolves a fortnight ago with a rather disappointing 31-all
draw with the Chiefs; this after leading by 16-points at one stage.

With rain likely, the hosts will depend on the tactical kicking prowess of the likes of Aaron
Smith at halfback. The loss to injury of Ben Smith, most likely for the rest of the season, is a
huge blow for the 2015 champions, who will need to march on without his leadership and
experience at the back.

The winner may well come down to whoever best manages the territorial aspect of the
game, with defence set to play a huge role. With this in mind, back the superiorly coached
hosts to come out on top.
Verdict: Highlanders by 10-points or more.
_______________________________________________

Chiefs v Sharks
09h35
FMG Stadium

To Win
Chiefs  6/10
Draw 25/1
Sharks 27/20

Handicap
Chiefs (-3.5) 9/10
Sharks (+3.5) 9/10

The Sharks will be full of confidence, but it may not be enough ahead of their final tour
game against the Chiefs in Waikato on Saturday.

While they will feel aggrieved at having let the Crusaders pull-off a draw in the dying
moments of their tie in Christchurch last Friday, the fact that they ran them so close to
begin with is an achievement in itself.

Curwin Bosch was particularly influential at first-five, with the 21-year-old nearly guiding his
team to what would have been a famous win. Nevertheless, the Durbanites will have

another shot at claiming a rare victory in Kiwiland when they take on an ever-improving
Chiefs side in Hamilton.

Colin Cooper’s men did well to battle back from 16-points down to claim a draw themselves
against the Highlanders last week. With playoff qualification not entirely out of the equation
for the two-time champions, they will target the Sharks’ game as a must-win.

As mighty as the Sharks were last week, don’t be surprised if their perennial inconsistency
comes back to bite them again. The Chiefs may not have the best home record of sides this
term, but expect them to come out firing to claim a narrow win.
Verdict: Chiefs by seven-points or more

Lions v Waratahs
15h05
Emirates Airline Park

To Win
Lions 7/20
Draw 28/1
Waratahs 22/10

Handicap
Lions (-7.5) 9/10
Waratahs (+7.5) 9/10

The Lions should take advantage of an out of sorts Waratahs outfit when they host the
Australian side in Johannesburg in Saturday’s final Super Rugby clash.

Daryl Gibson’s men have suffered consecutive losses to South African sides over the past
fortnight which has severely dented their confidence ahead of their second match on tour.
Having already fallen foul to the Sunwolves earlier in the season, coupled with the ongoing
Israel Folau saga, this is one footy team under immense pressure.

While the Lions haven’t necessarily fared much better this campaign (just one point
separates the 11th -placed hosts from the 12th -placed Tahs), their recent bye week should
have reinvigorated them somewhat.

Qualification remains unlikely for both outfits, but pride is still very much on the line
heading into the remaining weeks of the season. Playing at home, though, Swys de Bruin’s
charges should come away with four-log points at the very least.
Verdict: Lions by 10 or more.

Neil Morrice: UK Racing Tips - Wednesday 8 May 2019

Jockeys ride horses

Neil Morrice brings you all of his best bets from Wednesday's racing at Kelso, Chester, Southwell, Newton Abbot and Fontwell.

Kelso Best Bets

Race 1: FORTIFIED BAY (5)
Trainer: Jennie Candlish
Jockey: Sean Quinlan

If FORTIFIED BAY is anywhere near as good as when last seen in novice hurdles for Alan King he will make short work of his foes. I understand he's plenty fit enough after a more than 700-day absence and can prove an instant hit for his new connections at the main expense of Floki.

Race 5: YORKIST (3)
Trainer: Dan Skelton
Jockey: Harry Skelton

While not managing to return to the same level of form that saw him score on his debut for the Skeltons at Aintree in November, YORKIST has kept pretty smart company in four subsequent outings and performed well enough since undergoing wind surgery to suggest he can win what is sure to be a tactical contest.

Chester Best Bets

Race 1: GREAT DAME (10)
Trainer: David O'Meara
Jockey: Danny Tudhope

An inside draw is pretty much essential in the Lily Agnes Stakes, celebrating one of the fastest two-year-olds to race on the Roodee. GREAT DAME's connections couldn't have picked a better slot than gate 3 and with her early speed shining out like a beacon when she dotted up at Beverley she could be hard to catch.

Race 4: TECHNICIAN (8)
Trainer: Martyn Meade
Jockey: Frankie Dettori

With just the right profile for this, TECHNICIAN can foil a three-pronged Aidan O'Brien assault on a race that could have some bearing on the Investec Derby market. The Mastercraftsman colt is progressive, his trainer Martyn Meade excels with such horses, and the booking of Dettori has to be seen as a boon. The selection looked a tad unlucky not to win the Sandown Classic Trial and there's a good chance compensation awaits him.

Race 5: MONS STAR (6)
Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor
Jockey: Pat Cosgrave

MONS STAR cost a king's ransom as a foal and can pay back some of that elevated price on his head by scoring in a fascinating maiden. He showed enough on his debut in a similar race at Newmarket's Craven meeting to indicate he has the ability to match his price tag. He's a rare runner here for his trainer, and is bred to handle conditions should significant rain fall at the course.

Southwell Best Bets

Race 3: NO THANKS (3) (Each Way)
Trainer: William Jarvis
Jockey: George Wood

Although he would struggle to win this on the bare evidence of three 'duck egg' outings as a juvenile, NO THANKS might well improve for being gelded since his latest start and have got into this off a lenient handicap mark. The hooded son of Derby winner Pour Moi could be a surprise packet and I shall pay to find out.

Race 4: BONNEVILLE (5)
Trainer: Rod Millman
Jockey: Theodore Ladd

Named after salt flats that hosted attempts at land speed records in the Fifties and Sixties, BONNEVILLE has some speeding up to do if he's to finally open his account, but this looks a great chance to achieve it at the twelfth attempt. He's been a little unlucky to run into foes from major stables that have thwarted him, and this race is not supported by any of the top Newmarket trainers. He should win.

Newton Abbot Best Bet

Race 5: YOU SAY WHAT (8)
Trainer: David Pipe
Jockey: Tom Scudamore

Exeter specialist YOU SAY WHAT travelled like a winner for much of the way before finishing third there on his second run back from a layoff. His jumping was in the main a joy to behold, the performance showing he's retained plenty of the ability displayed before he was forced onto the sidelines with an injury. From this mark, getting weight from all but one of his rivals, he should prove hard to beat while any rain will make things even better for him.

Fontwell Park Best Bet

Race 7: BARTON ROSE (5)
Trainer: Charlie Longsdon
Jockey: Paul O'Brien

Another ultra-consistent performer whose chance will be considerably boosted by rain, BARTON ROSE doesn't meet a horse of the calibre of her Huntingdon victor and looks nailed on to at least get into the money in this 8-runner affair. She's dropped down the weights to a tempting mark.
